The most precious Christmas of all

“Without the research which made my treatment possible, I would not be lucky enough to celebrate Christmas with my family this year.”
Victoria Faure-Evrard
RBWH Triple Negative Breast Cancer patient

It was just before Christmas, two years ago, that Brisbane mother Victoria received the news that would change her life forever.

In between caring for her energetic 2-year-old son Jimmy, juggling a busy career and planning for her upcoming wedding, Victoria was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer - grade 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Triple Negative Breast Cancer.

There was no family history of breast cancer, and her only symptoms were fatigue and a small lump on her breast. “The first thing I thought was ‘Am I going to see Jimmy grow up?’ Even if I get through my treatment, how will I have the energy to take care of him?” said Victoria.

The young mother’s hopes for a total cure rely heavily on medical research focused on treatment breakthroughs. “Without funding, medical research is unable to progress. Without research, no cure can be found,” said Victoria.

I wanted to share my story to inspire others to move for those who can't, and to raise awareness and funds for those with loved ones in the Intensive Care Unit
